About the Weatherman-ager

The Weatherman-ager planning tool was designed with the primary intention of assisting producers to manage their spring cropping operation providing timely stubble to seed winter wheat into. This tool, which uses the data compiled over 55 years of weather conditions, also provides producers with a mechanism for evaluating the risks associated with different cropping options in years when seeding operations are delayed due to inclement weather.

The development of the Weatherman-ager could not have been accomplished without the talents of our partners. The vision of Sask Power for providing funding to Ducks Unlimited Canada, as a Diamond Legacy sponsor, to facilitate the development of projects such as this. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for providing and analyzing the wealth of climatic data that provides the base for the Weatherman-ager. Dr. Brian Fowler, winter wheat breeder from the University of Saskatchewan and Brian Duggan for calculating the growing degree day requirements for the crops included in the Weatherman-ager. Winter Cereals Canada also played a prominent role in assisting with the development and delivery of this tool.
